Description
Whether you are planning on attending the ISDS Conference for the first time this December or you have been attending since 2002, the ISDS Scientific Program Committee invites you to discover the 2014 ISDS Conference! This webinar will highlight the abstract submission process, and the Pre-Conference Trainings. The webinar will include brief overviews by Scientific Program Committee Co-chairs, Ian Painter and José Lojo, and Pre-Conference Planning Chair, Zachary Faigen, and will be followed by an informal question and answer session.
The ISDS annual conference is the premier event dedicated to the advancement of the science and practice of biosurveillance. The theme for this year’s conference— Public Health Surveillance – Challenges and Solutions for the Road Ahead— will highlight key challenges voiced by the public health surveillance community, and include strategies for incorporating the latest approaches, methodologies, and results into data-driven practices, programs, and policies. It will feature plenary talks by Ziad Memish, MD, FRCPC, FACP, FIDSA, Senior Consultant Adult Infectious Diseases, King Fahad Medical City and Linda Rae Murray, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer, Cook County Department of Public Health.
The pre-conference trainings are community-generated professional development opportunities that address the needs of the biosurveillance workforce, and take place the day prior to the conference. This year there are 4 track options: (1) Biosurveillance for Beginners, (2) Biosurveillance and Policy Issues for Experts, (3) Introduction to R for Biosurveillance, and (4) Mapping and Biosurveillance: Using ArcGIS.
The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, PA, December 10-11, 2014, with Pre-Conference Trainings on December 9th.
