2014 was an important time to be working in the field of disease surveillance. The thirteenth annual International Society for Disease Surveillance conference was held December 10-11, 2014 with Pre-Conference Trainings on December 9th, at the Hyatt Regency at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The theme for the 2014 conference – Public Health Surveillance – Challenges and Solutions for the Road Ahead – highlighted key challenges voiced by the public health surveillance community and included strategies for incorporating the latest approaches, methodologies, and results into data-driven practices, programs and policies. Both the pre-conference trainings and conference programming were designed to build capacity for public health surveillance – from local to global – through highly interactive sessions focused on informatics, policy, analytical methods, and practice. Furthermore, the robust networking opportunities with professionals from across the spectrum of public health surveillance, including practitioners, academic researchers, healthcare providers, and policymakers, provided an exceptional forum for advancing disease surveillance.

We received a record number of submissions from 33 different countries worldwide, and we expect this to be our best conference to date! Be part of it!
